Week 6 Build Season
The sixth week of build season has been extremely jam-packed for Charge. All departments have been working hard and making vital progress. Competitions are approaching rapidly, and the team has been working tirelessly to prepare for them on all fronts.
Design
The Design department has been putting the finishing touches on the robot before handing it over to Fabrication. These modifications include fixing CAD, interferences, over-constraints and making mounts and set ups for electronics. The department has also collaborated with Fabrication and Software to map out where electronics should be placed on the robot.
Fabrication
Fabrication has been getting together odds and ends to maximize their time to build the robot. Members of the department have been prepping chain and fabricating subsystems to get them ready to add to the robot. With a delay in getting our subsystem parts cut, it has been a slow process. Some other department members have been working on upgrading our carts for our pit.
Business
Sales for the Valentine’s Day Keychains closed on Tuesday, and members have spent the rest of the week distributing orders. In total, 133 orders were placed, raising a substantial total of $798, ending with a profit of $743. Additionally, the team gained a new sponsor: Concord Engineering, who donated $500, making them a silver sponsor. Overall, it has been a very successful week on the business side of things.
Software
Software finished pathfinding code, configuring motors for the robot, figuring out how to utilize the Can Range sensor as Beambreak, and are now able to read values from the string pot. The robot is now able to do more automation through vision, and the department has also made more progress on LED lights. The software department has made great advancements for the robot's subsystem codes, including finishing the robot's Sparkmax code, allowing the controller of the robot to adjust the robot's acceleration quickly.
Branding and Marketing
This week has been big for Branding and Marketing. While members have kept up to date with regular weekly tasks, such as the weekly video, they have made significant progress with awards submissions. Dean’s List, an award that highlights the contributions of two student nominees, and Woodie Flowers, an award that emphasizes the efforts of a mentor, were both submitted late last week. The Impact Award was also submitted, which includes a video, essay, and several written summaries. This award is meant to showcase the accomplishments of Charge in terms of outreach in the community.
