Week two of the build season was very busy for all departments of the team. The team focused on what we wanted our robot to be able to do and selected subsystem designs that helped us achieve our team goals.
DAF
The Design and Fabrication departments have been busy CADing and prototyping various subsystem options. The team's main focus has been engineering the system for the deep hang cage and how to maximize the use of the elevator system. One option the team has been exploring for the deep hang is the “tow truck” design which will allow our robot to hook onto the cage and raise the robot. The elevator is being designed to score coral on all parts of the reef, as well as manipulate algae from the reef. Designs are currently being CADed to integrate an intake system to deliver coral to the elevator, as well as develop options to score algae.
Software
The software department has been busy testing different vision systems to locate the robot on the field. They have been busy developing software for the April Tag and Mega Tag system which will help with the alignment of the robot. As the prototypes are being completed in DAF, the software department will begin working on their robot code to control the subsystems.
Business
The business department has been hard at work reaching out to sponsors, organizing dine and donates, and has developed a new keychain fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. The keychains come in two options, a tree with a heart and arrow, and two puzzle pieces in the shape of a heart. Both options can be customized to include names and initials and are offered in clear or red acrylic or birchwood. The keychains are being sold for $6 per order and will include a gift bag and Hershey's Kisses.
BAM
The Branding and Marketing department continued weekly projects of writing our team blog, designing our team newsletter, and editing our weekly recap video for YouTube and Instagram. We also began filming our video submission for the Impact Award. The team has also been busy creating design options for the sponsor t-shirt, developing marketing materials for STEM Night at Marlton Elementary School, and preparing for the FLL Qualifier. The team also completed their submission for Digital Animation.
In this year's FIRST Robotics Competition digital animation, Ripple Effect, Team 2722, Charge Robotics, brings to life the journey of a diver dedicated to protecting the ocean and its creatures. The animation follows a diver as they dive into the depths of the ocean, taking action to keep the seas clean and help marine life thrive. The story builds to a powerful climax, with the diver's efforts reflecting the themes of sustainability and environmental care, mirroring the goals of the 2025 FRC game, Reefscape.
