Build Season - Week 3

The third week of the build season has been a whirlwind of activity for every department of Charge Robotics! Our team is hard at work prototyping subsystems and writing code to meet our competition goals. Here's a look at what each department has accomplished: Design After countless hours in CAD, the Design team has completed the elevator and chassis subsystems. The elevator system is a game-changer, incorporating a coral intake system capable of reaching four reef levels, which will save valuable time during matches. However, the team is reworking the robot's hanging mechanism, having decided to pivot from the tow truck design and explore new options for deep hanging. Fabrication The Fabrication team is ready to start building as soon as the Design plans are finalized. In the meantime, they are tackling smaller components, like preparing the robot's bumpers and gearboxes. Software The Software team is wrapping up code for the elevator system and has implemented a library t...

Build Season - Week 2

Week two of the build season was very busy for all departments of the team.  The team focused on what we wanted our robot to be able to do and selected subsystem designs that helped us achieve our team goals. DAF The Design and Fabrication departments have been busy CADing and prototyping various subsystem options.  The team's main focus has been engineering the system for the deep hang cage and how to maximize the use of the elevator system.  One option the team has been exploring for the deep hang is the “tow truck” design which will allow our robot to hook onto the cage and raise the robot.  The elevator is being designed to score coral on all parts of the reef, as well as manipulate algae from the reef.  Designs are currently being CADed to integrate an intake system to deliver coral to the elevator, as well as develop options to score algae. Software The software department has been busy testing different vision systems to locate the robot on the field....

Build Season - Week 1

Now that the build season has started, each of our departments have been working relentlessly to get our robot working for the competition. Lets see what they’ve been up to as well as their goals for the season! Software Software has great goals for this season, aiming to streamline the robot's performance and maximize its scoring potential during the autonomous period of competition. Currently, the team is prototyping and fine-tuning all subsystems to ensure seamless integration and flawless execution on the field. The April Tag system will allow the robot to know exactly where it is on the field ensuring optimal travel times. As for scoring the Software department has just finished the code for scoring coral and has began the code for scoring algae. BAM BAM has been hard at work on crafting a digital animation. After extensive brainstorming and collaboration, they've decided to create a mixed-media video, blending stop-motion, 3D, and 2D elements. The team is sketching out ...

2025 Pre-Season

The Charge Robotics team has been working relentlessly in this pre-season laying the foundation for a successful competition season ahead. Each department including strategy, design, fabrication, software, business, branding, and marketing has been working tirelessly, not just toward their individual goals, but also surpassing new milestones with every meeting. Their dedication, collaboration, and drive are shaping a powerful momentum that will carry the team to new heights. The Fabrication team has been hard at work on Kid Bot, which is used for demos and showcases. Recently we made important improvements including swapping out the motor on the intake and adjusting its position to ensure the belt is tighter, allowing for smoother operation and better performance .  The goal is to fully restore Kid Bot and prepare it for upcoming demonstrations. Specific parts we will do to achieve this is working on acquiring a polycard sheet to further enhance the bot’s functionality. ...
